About the Conference
Conference Istanbul aims to bring together contractors and investors for the world’s leading construction, energy, and investment projects. By presenting dozens of projects from multiple countries each year, it seeks to increase interest in these projects and facilitate direct communication between interested parties and project owners, thereby overcoming the negative effects of bureaucratic obstacles. It also aims to contribute to the participation of a larger number of stakeholders in international tender processes. Conference Istanbul specifically targets projects in developing countries while also showcasing internationally open projects in developed countries. By doing so, it facilitates the rapid transfer of knowledge, experience, and technology between countries.

CONTENT OF THE CONFERENCE
Investment opportunities in industrial and energy facilities will be assessed, comparing the investment advantages and disadvantages between countries. Risks in residential and port projects will be evaluated, and the cost-benefit analysis results will be shared within a general framework for foreign investors.
Particularly focusing on PPP projects, discussions will be held regarding financing methods of public-private partnership models. Evaluations will be made regarding the challenges countries face in securing financing and the expected financial contribution from investors.
The projects planned to be tendered in 2024 and open to international participation will be announced, and important considerations such as evaluation criteria, financial capabilities, and durations of the projects will be discussed.
The budget utilization rates, challenges faced by contractors, obstacles in project completion, planning deficiencies, and other analyses will be evaluated in ongoing projects.

MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANIZERS
In our years of experience in the construction sector, we have identified the difficulties that construction companies face in foreign projects and operations. Flawed organizational structure, insufficient research, hasty decision-making, inadequate consultancy services, inability to analyze regulatory changes, lack of problem-solving skills, technical deficiencies, errors in foreign language translations, miscalculations made prior to tendering, and incorrect joint venture or subcontractor relationships are among the many similar reasons why we observe that contractors today make serious mistakes in certain countries abroad and incur millions of dollars in losses.
In addition, we have found that many local and experienced contractors who are afraid to venture into foreign projects have a weak ability to establish organizational structures in foreign countries. They continue to undertake local projects due to the fear of incurring losses. In general, we have observed that strong local contractors who could participate in numerous projects abroad are hesitant to enter the global market due to similar concerns and deficiencies. Instead, they are more willing to engage in import-export activities with foreign countries.
However, we see that the situation is different in the energy sector. We have observed that many construction companies, which choose to stay local and participate in public tenders, behave quite differently when it comes to energy investments. Contrary to their approach in foreign business ventures, they tend to be more daring and open to becoming investors if necessary.
When we look at the perspective of the tender institution, we observe that the contracting authority on one hand conducts international tenders, but on the other hand, imposes silent restrictions for foreign contractors and engineers in the specifications. We see that the participation in tenders is lower in Scandinavian countries compared to other countries, but the legislation is not very clear and understandable for foreign bidders. Due to language differences and technical errors, we witness that many foreign companies are unable to complete the projects they undertake and end up filing for bankruptcy.
In this situation, the first step to be taken is to organize the Infrastructure and Energy Project Vision 2024 conference, which we are honored to plan as a series of conferences. The first conference will be dedicated to participants and public institutions. Through this conference and the future conferences we have decided to organize, we aim to provide information to many contractors and manufacturers about potential challenges in foreign countries, planned projects, and methods for solving problems. By doing so, we will advance our consultancy vision to a higher level.
